The Role of Purchasing in the Effectiveness of Procurement of Goods in the Food & Beverage Department at the Grand Mercure Hotel Medan Angkasa

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the role of Purchasing in Procurement Effectiveness
Goods in the Food & Beverage Department at the Grand Mercure Hotel Medan Angkasa. Results
This research is expected to be a consideration for Accounting, precisely in the Purchasing section
regarding the role of Purchasing in the effectiveness of procurement of goods. Purchasing Section is
important part of the company's organization that must comply with the basic policies of internal management
carry out the procurement and management of goods to provide optimum contribution to
company management. This type of research is a case study of data collected by technique
observation, interviews, documentation, and literature studies, while this research uses
qualitative approach with descriptive analysis. The results of the analysis of interviews that have been the author
do it with Purchasing Staff, Accounting Staff and FB Director that purchasing role
in procuring goods must be in accordance with the standard operational procedure (SOP). In procuring goods it is very important to have a backup supplier for
anticipating sudden requests from users of the F&B Department. This will simplify the work of a purchasing person without having to make a direct purchase so that the procurement of goods can be done effectively.
