Abstract
The purpose of this study was to find out the role of the Banquet in organizing events to improve the quality of service at the Saka Medan hotel and to find out the obstacles that occur in organizing events. The results of the study are expected to be a consideration for the Banquet in overcoming the obstacles that occur at Hotel Saka Medan. Banquet is an important part in organizing events at hotels which are held in special rooms with facilities such as room arrangement, food and drinks. This type of research is a case study of data collected by observation, interviews, documentation, and literature studies, while this study uses a qualitative approach with descriptive analysis. Data collection techniques used are observation, documentation, study and document study. From the results of the research that the authors have connected with interviews, the implementation of the event is good even though there are still obstacles to be faced. obstacles faced such as changes in agreement, shortages, lack of facilities such as tables and chairs, lack of equipment. The results of the analysis from interviews that the author has done with the Banquet Supervisor that the role of the Banquet in organizing an event is in accordance with standard operating procedures (SOP). However, in its operational activities, the banquet facilities are not adequate to hold an event and banquets still use additional manpower for operational activities.
